Monsoon: Beautiful Season for Tourists

Monsoon is sometimes an off-season in tourist parlance. Monsoon attracts Arab visitors from Gulf countries and also North Indians to Kerala during June to August. Hotels too reduce tariff by about 50 per cent and in some cases more.

According to director of Kerala Home stays and Tourism Society, there is revived interest for Kerala’s monsoon season even in European countries. “Though home stays don’t market monsoon as such, we regularly get foreign tourists who are interested in rain. Some of them love to soak up in rain, while others prefer to watch it,” he said. Considering the interest of tourists, District Tourism Promotion Council (DTPC) was also planning to introduce a package by next week.

Meanwhile, monsoon is also the season for Ayurveda and many people head to the state for rest. The rainy season was considered the right time to “correct” the imbalances that crept into the bodily functions during summer.
