A UNIVERSITY FOR SUSTAINABLE TOURISM IN KERALA

The three day international conference on responsible tourism
(RT) held at Kumarakom here has took a plan for started a specialized sustainable university in Kerala to focus on academics and research related to tourism industry.

The conclusion of the conference is high level of scientific research was required to equip the tourism industry to achieve the results of environmental sustainability, economic growth and socio-cultural conservation. Kerala would be an ideal place for setting up the proposed university as the responsible tourism

The participants have an opinion for inclusion of RT as an extra-curricular activity in tourism clubs in schools and colleges. Kerala Institute for Tourism and Travel Studies (KITTS), which organised the conference, has agreed to start a certificate course in RT.
